This project began with a conceptual planting plan and AI-assisted visualizations to help the client explore ideas for transforming the front landscape. The design centered around the client’s vision of creating a welcoming cottage-style garden filled with layered textures and vibrant shades of purple, a meaningful tribute to her late sister.

Many of the selected perennials were personally chosen by the client, allowing the finished garden to reflect her own tastes while maintaining a balanced composition of varying heights, bloom times, and foliage textures. My role was to refine the planting layout, recommend complementary species, complete installation, and guide the overall design so the garden would feel cohesive while remaining personal.

Before installation, the property required extensive weeding, bed preparation, and cleanup. Existing plants were carefully evaluated and relocated to improve both their health and the overall composition. Lilies from the front entrance were transplanted to the rear fence line, while established hostas were divided and replanted beneath the Japanese maple alongside transplanted columbine to create a layered woodland planting. A new clematis replaced the original columbine location near the garage, where it will mature over time and climb a custom-built trellis. An inkberry was added near the front steps to provide year-round structure and gradually screen the adjacent area as it grows.

This installation was completed with the help of family and friends, making it a collaborative effort from start to finish. Once planting was complete, all garden beds were mulched to improve moisture retention, suppress weeds, and give the landscape a finished appearance.

The project was intentionally designed with future expansion in mind. The conceptual renderings illustrate plans to extend the landscape around the rear deck with mirrored planting beds, allowing the garden to evolve in phases over time. I continue to provide ongoing garden maintenance to ensure the landscape matures beautifully and remains healthy throughout the seasons.
